Time for Golf

You have probably heard of golf widows, you know, the poor women who are left at home caring for the baby while their husbands are off enjoying a round of golf with their mates. In fact, nowadays there are even golf widowers as so many women play golf. The fact of the matter is that it can be very hard trying to incorporate golf into family life.

Time for Golf and Family Life

The hustle and bustle of modern life makes it harder on families as often both parents are working. So there is less time for couples to spend quality time together; that is why some people get really annoyed when their spouses leave them to go and play golf every Saturday. For the golfer who is just trying to enjoy their hobby it’s important to not get too stressed about making time for golf. If you are passionate about golf it does not mean you have to make the choice between your family life and your hobby. You just have to find a way to blend the two together by making concessions with your spouse.

One way to make time for golf and your spouse is if your spouse arranges a day out with their friends while you play golf with yours. This can be easier if you live near to a golf course, as you should have time each week for a quick round or two. Even if you are not able to play as regularly as you wish, you should still make an endeavour to play at least once per week. The secret is to set this time as a definite schedule at the same time as your spouse’s and stick to it.

Another way to be able to play golf through the week is to find out if a client plays golf.  If so, you could set up your next business meeting on the course.  There are countless business deals being arranged on golf courses all over the world every week.  Instead of just discussing business you could be enjoying a shared passion and becoming friends; this can make business meetings that much more successful. As a sport, golf is perfect for a meeting as it permits you to get out off the office, get some fresh air, and it is performed at a sufficiently slow pace so you can talk clearly to the client without sounding out of breath.

Golf Vacations

When it comes time to family vacations and golf, it is possible for the whole family to enjoy their holidays even if they don’t play golf. The idea is to plan your vacations to a beautiful golf resort that has a golf course nearby and close to other activities that the rest of your family will enjoy. If you make certain that your travel destination has activities for every member of your family then everyone will be happy. These activities could include spas, tennis facilities, beaches, fishing, or whatever activity that is truly enjoyed by the family.

Remember that your family life will deteriorate increasingly if you do nothing else but play golf when you aren’t working.  For those that have a family that all play golf you will still need to hang out away from the golf course. Family time is just as essential as time for golf.
